With a zealous, glass-half-full approach to work and life, we sat down with Brock to learn what keeps him motivated

Self-described Bendigonian, Brock Pinner, is now over 3 years into his tenure with McKean McGregor and describes his time to date as constantly evolving and exciting. He brings with him years of experience within the sales and marketing fields and a hardworking, dedicated and team-first approach to client satisfaction.

As a proud father to three girls, he understands what it means to be actively engaged in numerous pastimes. His weekends are full, running his girls around, watching and coaching sport and whenever possible he fits in a round of golf.

With a zealous, glass-half-full approach to work and life, we sat down with him to ask some questions about his background, views on a number of topics and how his role has evolved.

What is your role within McKean McGregor?

That's a good question, my title is Sales and Marketing Manager but my role can be quite broad depending on the need and how my skill set can add value. Some of the focus areas I work on are:

  • Leading the marketing of the McKean McGregor brand, people and our services

  • As a direct support to Jeremy as a commercial sales agent

  • Supporting the sales team in the way in which they operate

  • Community engagement - acting as a conduit between the local community, local businesses and McKean McGregor

Why is marketing a property important?

Marketing is all about exposing products or services to the market in an attempt to find the right buyers and create competition. A well-planned and executed property marketing campaign will maximise interest and the end result.

What do you love most about Bendigo?

I love the balanced lifestyle and the people. I have seen it grow into a vibrant and thriving regional city, but it hasn’t lost its country feel. I value the fact that on our doorstep it has everything we need to live a comfortable life, but with a short drive, we can be in downtown Melbourne or immersed in rural Victoria.

What is your favourite suburb and why?

It’s a close call. I have so many fond memories growing up in Strathdale, but now living in Junortoun I would have to say it’s my favourite. Plenty of space, great neighbours and lots to explore in the neighbouring national parks.

What advice would you offer someone looking to have a career in marketing?

Take your time to understand and consider your audience. Use data to inform decisions and approaches but never forget the people that make the decisions.

What is your favourite aspect of your job?

The diversity, the scope to try things and the pace of each day. When working across the MM business, there is always lots to do and in various areas. There is lots of scope to implement and innovate in sales and marketing functions across residential and commercial sales and leasing through to the livestock business.

I also enjoy the ability to interact with customers, primarily in the commercial property space and having the scope to work on some amazing community initiatives.

What do you do outside of work?

I love playing and watching sports and enjoy family time. I love seeing our girls active and still try to be as active as possible myself. Time spent caravanning or at the lake or anywhere I can combine sport and family time is my happy place.

What do you think the future for Bendigo looks like?

We have had an amazing period of business and property growth despite the challenges of the last few years. After a short correction in spending, I believe we have a bright period of growth in the property market ahead of us. The recent investment in infrastructure, and the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games, combined with the livability standards, and diversity of industries and trades make Bendigo a hot spot for investment and population growth.

How would you describe yourself?

I think I am quite a balanced, caring, selfless and hardworking person. I am a team player who loves helping people succeed.

What have you learnt most about people over the recent challenging years?

That people are highly influenced by the media, but are very adaptable and resilient, and by nature crave human interaction.

I found the varied public response to the pandemic as a fascinating insight into human nature and how when under pressure or stress, a person's underlying beliefs come to the surface. I am sure we will be reflecting on the government and public response for years to come.
